Google Checkout Merchant Help

You can use Google Checkout to accept political contributions if you are a federal candidate or political action committee (PAC) registered with the Federal Elections Commission based in the United States.

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you are required to complete all of the following steps before you can collect contributions:

1. Sign up as a Google Checkout merchant. During the signup process, please provide the following:
• Basic information about your federal political campaign, including name and contact information.
• Your Public Business Website URL.
2. After you sign up, on the 'Settings' page of your account, select either Political Organizations (political action committee) or Political Organizations (federal candidate) as your Primary Product Type and click Save profile.
3. Submit the required information to verify your political organization
4. Complete the bank verification process to be paid out for your contributions.

You'll pay our standard transaction processing fees starting as low as 1.9% and $0.30 per transaction when processing political contributions.

Visitors to your site will either see a Google Checkout political contribution button with a predetermined contribution amount or a dynamic button where they can enter the amount they wish to give.

Here's how to add our HTML code snippet to your website to display Contribute Now buttons:

1. Sign in to Google Checkout.
2. Click the Tools tab.
3. Click Contribute Now Buttons.
4. Select a button type and your site's background color.
5. Enter the contribution summary, description, and amount for your button.
6. Click Create button code.
7. Click any part of the code snippet in the box that appears at the bottom of the page. The entire code snippet will be highlighted.
8. Click Copy to clipboard.
9. Paste the code snippet in an appropriate location on your website.

Google Checkout can be offered alongside any existing contribution method that you use on your website.

You can provide the text of the statements you'd like your contributors to confirm before they complete the Checkout contribution process. The information you provide in the check box will be shown to all individuals each time they use Google Checkout to make a contribution to your campaign. To edit the content of this check box:

1. Sign in to Google Checkout.
2. Click Settings.
3. Scroll down to 'Political contribution policy.'
4. Specify the text.
5. Click Save profile.

After you've completed the required steps for getting started, eligible candidates must also complete the following steps to use Google Checkout Contribute buttons on You Tube:

1. Email youchoose08@YouTube.com
2. Sign in to your YouTube Politcal account.
3. Click Account.
4. Click Google Checkout.
5. Enter your Google Checkout Merchant Key and ID.
6. Enter appropriate donation increments.
7. Click Save Google Checkout options.
