Processing orders: Charging partial orders

Print

To partially charge an order in the Checkout Merchant Center:

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Click an order number in your Orders Inbox.
  3. Click Charge a partial amount.
  4. Enter the amount you want to charge your buyer in the box next to 'Charge order' and click Charge.

If you capture a partial order amount within seven calendar days of receiving an order, you'll only be guaranteed an authorization for the amount you captured. The remaining funds will not be guaranteed, even if you attempt to capture them within the original seven-day authorization period.

If you've performed an Order Processing API integration with Google Checkout, you can charge a buyer's credit card for a portion of the order total using the API. You can also supply standard message text that will appear to buyers and provide details about the partial order. Learn more about credit card authorization and capture.

Remember, you'll be charged the standard transaction fee each time you partially capture funds.

If you're using the XML API, you may also use the line-item shipping feature to specify different shipping information for items in the same order.
