Fraud protection: Maximize fraud protection benefits

Take full advantage of our fraud protection by reviewing the following tips for processing and monitoring your orders:

  • Google wants you to feel confident in quickly shipping orders covered by the Payment Guarantee. Keep in mind that if an order is marked as Covered by Payment Guarantee and adheres to the additional criteria outlined in the Payment Guarantee Policy, any resulting chargeback for that order will be completely covered by Google.

  • Although AVS and CVN information may not match for the order information provided by the buyer, merchants will be protected for any resulting chargebacks if an order is covered by the Payment Guarantee.

  • For the small percentage of orders not covered by the Payment Guarantee, Google Checkout recommends performing a manual review of the transaction. Buyer credit card verification information may be helpful in determining whether you want to take on the risk of processing an order.

  • Deselect the auto-charge option within your account to allow more time for reviewing orders before they are charged. Learn more about how to stop charging orders automatically. Also remember to charge the order within the appropriate appropriate time frame in order to be guaranteed funds.

  • Openly communicate order status and share tracking information with buyers to help reduce the amount of disputes you receive. Avoiding disputes may lead to higher ratings and fewer chargebacks.

  • Monitor buyer reviews in your account. Click the Reviews link in the Orders tab to view your buyer feedback. If you've received ratings you didn't expect, you may want to respond publicly below the buyer's review.

  • To be covered by the Payment Guarantee Policy, provide Google with all requested order documentation and information within 10 business days for any chargeback or dispute notification emails you receive.
